Ramon has over 18 years of experience working across food industry, academia and Government agencies in nutrition, regulatory affairs and food safety roles. Prior to this, Ramon was Manager of the Dairy Health and Nutrition Consortium at Dairy Innovation Australia in Melbourne, where he was responsible for strategic leadership of research activities and coordination of human research projects and systematic reviews related to the health benefits of dairy foods for the six largest dairy manufacturers in Australia/New Zealand. Earlier, Ramon worked as a Senior Research Scientist (Nutritionist) at Fonterra Ingredient Innovation in New Zealand for 5 years where he was responsible for nutrition research planning, coordination of human and animal efficacy trials and regulatory dossiers to support global nutritional ingredient innovations. Before joining Fonterra, Ramon worked as a Lecturer in Food Science and Nutrition at Deakin University. Ramon has also held food related roles in the Victorian Government Department of Health and the Department of Primary Industries. He has published numerous food and nutrition research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented at many local and international conferences.
Ramon is an active member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology and is past Chair of the Institute’s Victorian Nutrition and Microbiology Groups and he is also a Registered Nutritionist with the Nutrition Society of Australia. Ramon also is a member of the American Society of Nutrition and the American Oil Chemists’ Society. Ramon is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University in Melbourne.
